Thursday, March 19. Meeting: Alon Shvut southern synagogue center.
Our third trip will begin with a view of the southern tip of greater Gush Etzion from the new pioneering town of Ma'aleh Halhul, located on one of the highest hills in the central mountain range. We will continue from there to the Nebi Yakin lookout- the traditional site where the patriarch Abraham prayed for the sparing of the wicked city of Sodom, and where here later viewed its destruction. From Nabi Yakin, we will accompany Abraham back to his hometown Hebron. We will tour the fascinating archeological site of Tel Hebron including the site of the cyclops wall discovered by archeologists and dating back to the Patriarchal period as well as the recent excavations in the heart of the ancient mound, the site where it all began. Here the Biblical stories relating to the Patriarchs, all of whom lived for some time in Hebron, come alive.
