Trip no.1-Northward (May 8)
1.Givat Oz Lookout – A magnificent view of greater Gush Etzion awaits us at this lookout on a hilltop 976 meters above sea level, located just south of kibbutz Migdal Oz.
2.Biar Aqueduct – A short walk leads us to a cave and tunnel belonging to the most sophisticated of the four aqueducts which provided Jerusalem and the Temple with water from Gush Etzion.
3.Efrat-the Dagan Neighborhood – We will first visit the Siach Yeshiva which is known for its post-modern religious Zionist approach. We will then take a short walk along the recently rediscovered ancient aqueduct, known as the Arub aqueduct, located at the foot of the Dagan neighborhood.
4.Eitam- We will conclude our trip at the newest of the Efrat neighborhoods, currently known as the Eitam farm with about ten families and a group of students who in addition to their studies are cultivating the land, tending sheep and preparing the site for the future development of Efrat.
In the course of trip no.1, we will introduce these special personalities, in whose footsteps we will be following:
1.David-king of Israel- born in nearby Bethlehem,
2.Pontius Pilate- infamous Roman procurator- promoter of the construction of the Arub aqueduct.
3.Rabbi Shagar- post-modern philosopher- founder of the Siach yeshiva.
